【フラ、チャント、オハナ】
『クムフラ』イシュマル・W・ステグナー著（”Kumu Hula” by Dr. Ishmael W Stagner）より。 なんとなく、ハワイアンの現実と信仰の関係がイメージできたりして。 フラっていうのはこういうものなんだ、と再認識する話ですね。
古代ハワイアンの家族（オハナ）の絆はものすごく強いものでした。 それは、宗教および日々の仕事、戦争や平和にまでわたるものでした。 チャントのときに踊られる踊りは、目に見える世界と目に見えない世界をつなぎました。 人間はフラを神と支配者に献上することで、お互いの尊敬を表現したのです。

The family ‘ohana’ was the unifying force in everyone’s life. It brought together religion and daily work, wars and peace. Dance accompanied by chant formed a major link between the unseen forces of heaven and visible world on earth. Humans honored their gods and rulers with hula and paid respect to each other with hula.
